Learning a sweet and delightful skill is a step towards healing for the 27 clients of the Balay Silangan Reformatory Center as they undergo 28 days of training on bread and pastries under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Center Manager Ms. Genelene Vidanes said their six-month stay at the facility will be a positive experience for the “Persons who use drugs” (PWUDs) since they will not only be reformed and rehabilitated but skilled as well.
Aside from this, the provincial government of South Cotabato under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S Tamayo Jr. also offers a seed capital of Php10, 000 for those who want to pursue a business in line with this training or any venture of their choice.
TESDA also offers a 40-days training on commercial cooking for these clients. Previous batches from this facility also availed training on Beauty care and welding.
