Tnalak cloth as the essence of the occasion during the 21st Tnalak festival which will coincide with the province’s 54th Founding anniversary in July will take center stage through a 1st Tnalak fashion Design Competition dubbed as “NGOM 2020.”
Ngom in Tboli means a dress.
Tourism Officer Argie Ryan Asaria said the committee will invite at least 25 local designers in the province to join in the screening process. However, only 12 designers will make it to the final list of participants to join in the competition.
“Tnalak cloth will be the main material to be used for the designs,” Asaria said,
He added the activity is tentatively scheduled on July 17 at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center.
Each participant will receive a seed fund of Php10,000 for the creation of their respective designs in three sets each.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Php50,000 for the champion; Php30,000 for the first runner-up and; Php20,000 for the 2nd runner-up.
Non–winners will receive Php5,000 each as consolation prizes.
A one-day fashion design workshop will be held prior to the competition.
