CITY OF KORONADAL — Five (5) LGUs in South Cotabato were included among the top ten (10) tourist destinations in SOCSKSARGEN or SOX Region for third quarter 2021, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 12 reported.
Senior Tourism Operations Officer Argie Ryan Asaria, chief of the South Cotabato Arts, Culture, Tourism & Museum (ACTM) Unit disclosed during the recent yearend regular Local Culture and Arts Council (LCAC) meeting held at Agua Frio Resort here that the LGUs were Lake (the number 1 tourist destination), followed by City of Koronadal, Tupi, Norala and Banga that are included among the top 10.
Tourist arrivals of Lake Sebu registered 95,610; Norala – 33,191, Tupi – 26,836; City of Koronadal – 12,405 and Banga – 11,109.
Banner tourist sites of said LGUs were as follows; Lake Sebu – 7-Falls, Sunrise Garden Lake Resort, Dreamweavers Hill, Punta Isla Lake Resort, T/Daan Kini Falls; City of Koronadal – Mambucal Hot Spring and Spa, Damweng Mountain Resort; Tupi – Magsangyaw River Ranch Resort; Tuburan Mountain View Resort, Norala – Necita’s Lagoon, Lantaw Garrido. The DOT 12 report, according to STOO Asaria showed that tourism is not only recovering but very much alive in the province even under the new normal and it also indicated that overnight guests and day tour visitors patronized South Cotabato among the provinces and cities in SOX.
SOX is composed of the provinces of North Cptabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani, and the Cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal and General Santos.
