Three tractors conduct free land-tilling to 32 hectares of rice farms in Surallah

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist commissioned the three tractors to conduct land-tilling operations on the 32 hectares of rice farms at Brgy. Dajay at Surallah town. This is in preparation for the Consolidated Rice Farming program of the provincial government of South Cotabato.
John Philip Hechanova, focal person for the Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization System (CRPMS) said these are just the initial farmlands for the first passing out of the 200 hectares targeted for this planting season owned by the farmers of the Upper Valley Cooperative.
The PGSC originally targets to have at least 1000 hectares of rice lands to be planted and it calls on other farmers to join in the program.
“We urge other farmers who want to join in the program to get themselves become a member of the cooperative, ” Hechanova said,
Aside from the assistance coming from the province, the program also gets support from other agencies such as the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Officer 12, the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, and the coop in itself.
Out of the five tractors presently owned by the province, the three units are specifically servicing the consolidated farming program in Surallah, Hechanova reveals.
Two more tractors are open for request and are now servicing at least 30 farmers in Tampakan town.
The OPAG plans to purchase more tractor units to serve more farmers in the province for free.
The consolidated farming program is one of the priority programs of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. to promote food security.
