The Barangay Captain of Bunao, Tupi expressed his gratefulness for the construction of a P4.1 million gymnasium with stage during the recent conduct of a mini-outreach program by the Barangay Affairs Unit (BAU) at Sitio Acfaon in the said barangay.
Sahid Talibod, former Bunao barangay councilor before elected barangay captain on 2013, remembered vividly the times when they requested for a parachute from the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) to be use as a shade during “pulong-pulong” (consultation), sportsfest and fiesta or anniversary.
“We regularly conduct our community activities in Sitio Acfaon using the parachute borrowed from PGSO; there are times the place becomes muddy when it rains,” Barangay Captain Talibod disclosed.
Indeed, the covered gymnasium where the recent mini-outreach program was held is a welcome relief to the community which can now enjoy any activity such as this in all weather conditions.
Services rendered during the outreach in the gymnasium include operation “tuli” (male circumcision), food distribution, planting materials distribution, botika sa barangay and free haircut in partnership with the AFP.
A live band also entertained the barangay folks while the services are on-going coupled with a raffle draw where lucky winners can bring home bags of groceries or food packs.
Aside from the gymnasium, Talibod also enumerated the numerous assistance they received from the province such as barangay service vehicle, box culvert, plastic chairs, construction materials worth P15,000.00 and also 100 slots for the Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship Program for elementary pupils, high school and college students.
Despite being an agricultural area where farming such as corn, coconut (copra production) and papaya contract-growing with fruit giant Dole Phils. is the major economic activity, Bunao now boasts itself as a first-class barangay.
“We all owe this to the provincial government, especially to Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes, for her untiring support particularly on delivering the basic needs of our barangay,” Talibod further added.
