POLOMOLOK, SOUTH COTABATO — Some 22 Health Care Providers, composed of hospitals, clinics and laboratories have undergone Health Care Waste (HCW) Management Orientation conducted recently by the Provincial Environment Management Office – Environment Management Division (PEMO – EMD) held at the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), this municipality.
PEMO-EMD chief Supervising Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag led the orientation that tackled the province’s Health Care Waste Management Ordinance and Collection of Fees for the treatment of HCW.
Also presented during the orientation is the copy of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will be executed between the health care provider and the provincial government of South Cotabato if the former wishes to avail of the services.
PEMO-EMD is actively conducting HCW Orientation among health care providers province-wide since last year when PEMO’s pyroclave, the equipment that treats HCW became fully operational. The equipment is housed at the Health Care Waste Treatment Facility located at Tinongkop, Tantangan.
As of the present, a number of health care providers in the lower and upper valleys of the province have already availed of the service.
