KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- Nine centenarians in the province have received a one-time cash grant and a monthly allowance. According to Jessie Palmes, Community Affairs Officer II of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, each of the nine centenarians received a one-time cash grant amounting to 20,000.00 pesos, which included a bucket of biscuits, Ensure Milk, and two packages of oatmeal from the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.
These centenarians also receive a monthly allowance of 2,000.00 pesos from the province. Four of them reside in the town of Surallah, one in Banga, one in Tantangan, one in Tupi, one in Polomolok, and one in the City of Koronadal.
“We have conducted the release of a one-time cash grant amounting to Php20,000.00 to our centenarians in South Cotabato and a monthly allowance of Php2,000.00 from the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.” He said.
Furthermore, based on Republic Act No. 10868, also known as the Centenarians Act of 2016, stipulates that a cash grant amounting to 100,000.00 pesos will be given to each centenarian by the National Government. This is in accordance with the law that grants the right to all Filipinos who reach the age of 100 years or older to receive a cash gift amounting to 100,000.00 pesos.
