After the successful conduct of the second judging and consolidation of results in the Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Household in Lake Sebu last August 26 – 28, the top 15 winners were awarded their cash incentives on September 7 during the weekly LGU flag-raising ceremony.
The top three (3) winners were as follows: First Place (P6,000.00) – Ariel Tedera; Second Place (P4,000.00) – Corazon Sarigo; Third Place (P2,000.00) – Romy Tedera.
Consolation prize winners that received P700.00 each were Anthony Artacho, Carlito Magarso, Emma Tapel, Norma Arellano, Abe Castillo, Mylene Frondozo, Jhpny Engane, Banban Noton, Henry Melta, Roberto Rivera, Josephoine Cabaya and Danny Klatong.
Forester Mary Jane Manlisis, chief of the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) – Forest and Inland Water Division led the awarding ceremony together with the Lake Sebu municipal officials led by Mayor Antonio Fungan and DENR – Protected Area Superintendent Leonisa Alfaro.
The revised criteria of the contest are the following: Greening, Gardening and Landscaping – 40%, Cleanliness and Orderliness – 45% and Improvements.
PEMO scheduled the third and final judging on October 20 -21.
Prizes at stake for the final judging are, First Place – P8,000.00, Second Place – P6,000.00 and Third Place – P4,000.00, while consolation prize winners will receive P2,000.00 each.
Special Awards will be likewise given to the top three (3) Best Maintained Areas with cash incentives of P15,000.00, P10,000.00 and P5,000.00, respectively.
Evaluators of the search were Genie Famisan of PEMO, Fruto Sumagayaysay Jr. of the Provincial Information Office, Julius Mella of the Arts, Culture, Tourism, Museum and Sports Promotions Unit, Forest Extension officer Noda Marie Macaranas of the Protected Area Superintendent Office and Hayd-Ali Suwaib of the Department of Interior of Local government.
