– Fashion Designers undergo Capability-Development, elect officers

CITY OF KORONADAL — Some 22 fashion designers all over the province underwent a one-day capability-development training spearheaded by the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Development and Promotions Unit at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, this city.

National Commission for Culture and The Arts (NCCA) stalwart and Vice-President of the Provincial Tourism Council of South Cotabato Carlo Ebeo conducted the capability development training which eventually produced the association’s Mission / Vision and Core Values.

Earlier, Koronadal-based internationally-acclaimed fashion designer Jared Servano led the formation of  SCAFAD or South Cotabato Association of Fashion Designers during their debut meeting a few months ago.

An election ensued after the training in which Sherwin Tingson of Koronadal City was elected President. The other elected officers were Kim Tabidan – Lake Sebu (Vice-President), Nino Baylosis – Polomolok (Secretary), Russell Alimanggo – Norala (Treasurer), Dante Mana – Surallah (Auditor), Public Information Officers – Dante Montano – Tantangan, Kris Balao – Tupi and Ambrosio Cabayao Jr. – Banga.

Tingson enjoined his fellow designers to encourage aspiring designers to join the association in order to avail of the different programs of the province particularly on fashion design development.

This coming December, ACTM in partnership with IPMR and municipal tourism officers will conduct a stakeholders forum on the standardization of indigenous arts and crafts.

Tourism officrs from Banga, Norala, Tantangan, T’boli and Tupi joined  the 22 participants during the training.
