KORONADAL CITY- South Cotabato has produced four regional winners out of the 12 categories for the annual regional Gawad Saka Search during the Gabi ng Parangal 2019, hosted by the Department of Agriculture Region 12 on August 28, 2019, at Paraiso Verde Hotel this city.
DA 12 Regional Executive Director Milagros Casis said these winners from South Cotabato include Renato Dela Cruz as the Outstanding Organic Agriculture Farmer from the City of Koronadal; Jesus Dignadice as Outstanding Coconut Farmer from Polomolok; and Motril Family as Most Outstanding Family and Kablon Farm Foods Corporation as Outstanding Entrepreneur from Tupi town;
North Cotabato also shared the same number of winners which include Rogelio Genosas as Outstanding High-Value Crops Farmer Kidapawan City; Onofre Corpuz, Ph.D. as Outstanding Agricultural Scientist from the municipality of Arakan; Aldrin Cantila as Outstanding Agricultural Researcher from Midsayap; and Gerwin Galinato as Outstanding Young Farmer from Antipas.
Three more regional winners came from the province of Sultan Kudarat.
These include Jesus Horlador as Outstanding Rice Farmer and Bienvenido Nebres as Outstanding Fisherfolk, from Tacurong City and Sultan Kudarat PAFC as Outstanding Provincial Fishery Council from the municipality of Isulan.
General Santos City represented by the General Santos City Food Terminal, Inc. won as the Outstanding Barangay Food Terminal (Non-LGU Operated).
All winners received a plaque of recognition and cash incentives of Php50k for the individual farmer and Php75k for the group category.
Aside from these categories, DA 12 also gave awards to Regional Organic Agriculture Achievers 2019 and their Assisting Technicians; Outstanding Local Farmer Technicians; Outstanding Agriculture and Fishery Volunteers; Regional Outstanding Rural Women; Regional Rice Achievers Awards and outstanding Agricultural Extension Workers.
