KORONADAL CITY- A high tech portable ultra-light x-ray machine is now being used for faster detection of the potentially serious infectious disease known as TB or Tuberculosis in the Integrated Provincial Health Office or IPHO-South Cotabato.
According to the provincial health officer Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr., in the past 6 months, over 9,000 residents from South Cotabato have already undergone screening.
“Sa anum palang ka bulan nga pag operate naton sa mga barangay nga mabudlay lab-uton sang 4 wheels, may ara na kita sang 9,000 plus nga gin screen.” Dr. Aturdido said.
About 1,584 or 17% of whom were confirmed positive for TB.
These individuals came from 80 barangays in the province.
Dr. Aturdido also clarified that this data still did not include TB cases from barangay health centers.
“Ang iban nga mga kaso dire ang naghalin pa sa barangay health center.” He added.
With this case, the number of persons who tested positive for TB in South Cotabato has already reached 3,949 patients.
Furthermore, Dr. Aturdido emphasized that aside from treatment, IPHO also gives counseling to the TB patients in the province.
According to the IPHO, the use of the new x-ray machine is free of charge and that the public should not be alarmed because Tuberculosis is curable when you follow the right treatment procedures.
