Local Master chefs from Lake Sebu has proven that when it comes to tilapia dishes, they make the tastiest cuisines having been the home of the best-tasting tilapia in the province.
During the Culinary Challenge dubbed as “Kumbati sa Kusina”, one of the highlighted activities in this year’s Tnalak fest held at Rizal Park on July 14, 2019, the team composed of Carlos Arevalo and Richel Cabaocabao of Lake Sebu won first place.
Their power recipe entitled Tilapia Vegetable packers as the main dish, tilapia pizza vegetable as the side dish and tilapia salad as the appetizer stands out from the rest. They received Php7k cash prize and a Tnalak trophy.
The team from Surallah town won 1st Runner-Up for their Tilapia Cordon Bleu, Tilapia stir fry and a tilapia cupcake. The team represented by Josefa Templonuevo and Virginia Veloso received Php6k.
2nd Runner-Up goes to Nita Pinto and Grace Sanchez of Tantangan for their recipe entitled Creamy Tilapia with takway, Turon Tilapia with Cheese ala Grasya and sizzling tilapia. They received Php5k as cash prizes.

A culinary challenge is a yearly event showcasing Gourmet Filipino ala Carte dishes highlighting tilapia as the main ingredient.
Criteria for judging include Taste, 25%; Texture, 20%; Originality and Creativity, 25%; Safety and cleanliness, 15%; Visual appearance, 15% for a total of 100%.
