Two (2) “Legendary Treasures” were remembered on Virtual Talk hosted by the Arts, Culture. Tourism and Museum (ACTM( Unit in celebration of “Buwan ng Wika.”
The life stories pf legendary treasures, Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees Beh Lang Dulay of Sitio Tbpng. Lamdalag, Lake Sebu and Fu Yabing Masalon Dulo of Sitio Amguo, :Landan, Polomolok, were narrated by their respective grandson Delmo Dulay and Arthur Dulo Gulili
Grandsons Dulay and Gulilli vividly described their past experiences about how simple was life then in the community. where they lived with their respective family.
From stories told by their mothers, they described how the weaving proqwss of their grandmothers progressed starting from their teen years until their death.
Beh Lang who belong to the T’boli tribe is known for weaving the t’nalak cloth while Fu Yabinb who is B’laan practiced tabih weaving. The fiber from the abaca plant which they grew abd harvested serves as the material they used for weaving.
Both were said to be “”dreamweavers,”wherein animals such as crocodile, lizards, birds or trees, river, among others, which they both saw in their dream were the objects of design in their wpven fabric.
The woven fabric, according to Dulay and Gulili, was used only as a means of barter then but due to commercialization, the cloth is now being mass produced.
Som 15 students from T’boli National High School and Tupi National High School under the Special Program for the Arts (SPA) of the Department of Education (DepED) attended the virtual talk via zoom application.
The talk ended with a Question and Answer portion wherein students were asked questions by their Resource Speakers about their respective lecture.
