KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- League of the Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) National President Gov. Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. hit the ground running by hosting a productive 2nd General Assembly at The Farm@Carpenter Hill in Koronadal City.
Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Benjamin “Benhur” D. Abalos, Jr. spearheads the forum on the various issues currently being faced by the governors within their respective constituencies.
The 2nd General Assembly of the LPP highlights the following agenda on: strengthening of the Regional Development Councils in the determination of national projects and its alignment with local development directions; the enhancement of Executive Order 138 on Full Devolution; step up the COVID-19 immunization program in provinces where the coverage still remains low; postponement of barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections; and proposed act on the creation of the National Council of Local Government Units.
“So number one ang ginagawa namin is we are proposing enhancement to EO 138 on the Full Devolution.” DILG Secretary Abalos said.
He also urged the governors to present their respective proposals for the Local Government Code amendments to present in a special joint body composed of the DILG, and the Senate and House of Representatives respective Committees to fast track legislative actions.
Gov. Tamayo, in his message, emphasized that this is the proper time for LGUs to unite as President Bongbong Marcos administration is practicing.
Having said, this is also showcasing each other’s good practices and consider them for replication so that greater attention be given to LGUs.
He also encourages other governors to host the succeeding general assemblies in their respective provinces to allow each province to share their governance initiatives and innovations.
Apart from a presentation of the best practices of the Province of South Cotabato, the governors were also given an opportunity to visit key destinations in the province.
