KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. emphasizes that one of the cores of his administration is to strengthen the participatory governance in providing services among its constituents.
“Participatory governance” is a mechanism that is intended to involve citizens in public policy-making processes. It is aimed at establishing a bridge between public institutions and ordinary people, in an attempt to increase the effectiveness and responsiveness of public policy-making activities.
In his regular radio program dubbed as “Ang Gobernador kag Ang Katawhan” at TopGun Radio Koronadal, Governor Tamayo said that it helps a lot in the implementation of the program and project if people are involved in decision-making.
“Pag sinabi mong direct democracy, tatanungin mo yung tao ano ba yung gusto mo? At yun ang ibibigay ng gobyerno dapat”. Governor Tamayo said in his radio program.
According to Tamayo, if we only listen to the concerns of ordinary people, they would prefer immediate needs such as clean water, livelihood, and the like which can assure them of a sustainable source of needs.
“Tandaan naton nga kwarta ina sang katawhan, so dapat I involve mo sila sa delivery sang services nga may ara ka kay tungod ila na kwarta.” He added.
While Governor Tamayo reassures beneficial projects, intensive consultation is implemented to address and give rapid solutions to the roots of the problem especially with areas where the grassroots level in the community is visible.
