PEMO, PLLENRO to conduct Writeshop on 10-yr SWM Plan

The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO)) in partnership with the Provincial League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Officers – South Cotabato (PLLENRO-SC has stepped up its campaign on the compliance of the C/’MLGUs 10-Year Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plan with the conduct of SWM Training Writeshop with Coaching slated on May 20 – 22 at Mt. Sabrina Panoramic View and Resort at Brgy. Tambler, Gen. Santos City.

The National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) which is based in Metro Manila has passed Resolution No. 134, Series of 2015 that provided for the “Final Non-Extendable Deadline To Submit The 10-Yr. Solid Waste Management Plan s of Local Government Units” effective June 30, 2015.

PLLENRO President Julian Asion, who is the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) of T’boli disclosed, that the activity is aimed to facilitate completion of the revision and updating of the 10-year SWM Plans of the province and its component city and municipalities.

NSWMC technical personnel are expected to attend the 3-day seminar, PEMO’s Environment Management Division chief Elbre Balucanag disclosed.

Likewise, DENR-EMB 12 technical personnel were invited to provide inputs on the SWM Annotated Outline as a tool in the preparation of the plans.

MENRO Asion added that the accomplished SWM plan will be submitted to the NSWMC.

Only two LGUs, Polomolok and Koronadal City, have submitted their plans to NSWMC while the rest have been reviewed by DENR-EMB 12 and are yet to be submitted to NSWMC, PEMO reported.

PLLENRO hopes that the activity will ensure the 100% compliance of the LGUs in the province before the deadline.

MENROs/Designated MENROs, Sangguniang Bayan Members who are Committee Chairpersons on Environment and their technical staff were invited by PLLENRO to join the 3-day training on the said venue.
