Retired PIO recognized for literary works

CITY OF KORONADAL — Retired Provincial Information Officer III Romeo Roullo of Banga, South Cotabato was recently honored by the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit with a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding contribution in the field of literary works during the culmination program of the South Cotabato Arts Festival 2022 held at KCC Mall Events Center, here.

Roullo served the province for 32 years before retiring on December 31, 2000.

Upon his retirement, he continued his passion in writing novels, essays, poems  and other literary works in Hiligaynon as contributor to Yuhum Magazine, a monthly publication based in Iloilo City and the weekly Hiligaynon Magazine of the Manila Bulletin national broad sheet.

“But I am quite disappointed because these two magazines already stopped their publications a few years ago,” Roullo lamented.

But despite this, he said, he still continue t owrite and send aricles to Sumakwelan, an organization of writers in Iloilo City where he is an active member.

Now 86 yers old but srill very much able, he personally received the citation and thanked ACTM for the recognition bestowed upon him.

Roullo will be formally recognized during the National Heritage Month celebration this coming month of May where he will receive a Plaque of Recognition.
