KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. appeals to the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members present during the convocation ceremony earlier this week, to support the new project of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato to establish the Food Terminal in the Municipality of Tupi.
The idea of food terminal envisioned to become the primary trade/market for food and agriculture in South Cotabato. It aims to help the farmers in uplifting agricultural economy of the country and initiate a marketing system designed to ensure price stability among them.
“Meron akon request sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan para sa Food Terminal kung saan this is not just the food terminal at the same magiging processing ng agricultural products, ang ibig sabihin nito pagdating ng produkto dito sa food terminal may dalawang option ipa-process or ibebenta ng fresh kung pwede mabebenta ng fresh ibebenta ng fresh kung hindi ipa-process siya dadaan sa isang processing area may cold storage lalabas for export or for domestic market.” Gov. Tamayo emphasize during the conduct of convocation ceremony, earlier this week.
There is a previous proposal from foreign national for PPP (Public-Private Partnership) that food terminal will be establish in Gensan, but Gov. Tamayo appeals to establish here in South Cotabato since baskets of agricultural products are coming from the province.
“Mayroon nang agreement dahil yung connecting road from Banga to Tupi okey na. Iyong miasong na 80% ng supply ng SOCCSKSARGEN area na vegetables nanggagaling sa nasabing bayan okey na rin ang daan pababa ng tupi, colombio at tampakan papuntang tupi kung saan doon aabot ang road networks.” He added.
This is the reason why they consider the Municipality of Tupi since it is located in the center where neighboring municipalities produced varieties of agricultural products.
As part of the program of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato that centered on the welfare of the farmers, Governor Tamayo assures for greater income among them.
“Ang mangyayari diyan, makakadagdag ito ng income sa ating mga farmers dahil hindi na sila mababarat ng mga buyers ngayon, dahil pagnilagay doon a food terminal tuloy-tuloy na yun kung hindi mabenta sa fresh talagang ipa-process siya.” He added.
Governor Tamayo is praying for the cooperation of the department involves especially the SP for the smooth running for the project.
In addition, there will be a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and support from the National line agencies for the establishment of Food Terminal in the Province.
