Koronadal City—As its flagship service of Tama kag Maayo nga Serbisyo, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato received four major awards in the recently concluded Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at EMR Center Friday.
Rudy Jimenea, Provincial Information Officer, who is also the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, received the green banner award for South Cotabato based on the 2022 nutrition evaluation last May.
“It implies that we are on the right track in the implementation of the nutrition program,” Jimenea said.
The nutrition program is a priority agenda of Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. as part of the Executive-Legislative Agenda for 2022-2025.
Meanwhile, Jimenea was adjudged as the Most Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer in the SOCSKSARGEN Region. He received a plaque of recognition and a cash prize.
“We work hard not to be recognized, but we work because our constituents need us,” Jimenea emphasized during his message. He is focused on decreasing the number of stunting and wasting in South Cotabato.
Before his stint as PNAO, he served as the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Tupi. He was also the Regional Information Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office.
“The province collaborated with other government agencies to bring nutrition-related programs and activities to the province as funds are limited at the provincial level,” he said. Jimenea witnessed a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the province and the Department of Science and Technology for various programs last June.
On the other hand, Nutrition Officer Angela Frugalidad was recognized as the Most Outstanding Deputy Nutrition Program Coordinator, besting two others. She gained 96 per cent as the overall rating. She received a plaque of recognition and a cash prize.
The town of Polomolok bested other local government units at the municipal level as it was recognized as the Most Outstanding Municipal LGU in the implementation of the nutrition program in the region. The towns of Suralah, Tupi, Norala, and Banga were recognized for their efforts in decreasing cases of malnutrition in the region.
