South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. expressed support for the program recently launched by the Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA 12) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) dubbed as “Tsuper Iskolar” which will benefit more than 200 displaced members of the transport sector in South Cotabato.
Tsuper Iskolar is a scholarship program of the DOTr under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) which aims to capacitate the stakeholder through the training and development of the new training regulations to support the transportation industry.
Tamayo said he welcomes programs from the national agencies since he believes these are beneficial to the people and all government agencies are all allies in progress.
He added, there will be more members of the transport sector that will be displaced due to the modernization program but the sector must understand and accept these changes since this will be the path towards progress.
“We should always embrace change since this is what we are here for. We need to work hard for the next generation. When there are no changes, there is no development.” He added.
He also called on fellow South Cotabateño to support and cooperate all programs implemented by the government.
Aside from South Cotabato, at least 1,496 beneficiaries all over the region will also benefit from Php23 million worth of scholarship program to be implemented by TESDA coming from the funds of the DOTr.
No less than TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro Sid Lapeña and officials from the DOTr, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB 12) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO 12) attended the launching program and led the distribution of scholarship vouchers to 43 transport cooperative in the region.
