A South Cotabateno is one of the 5 visual artists from Mindanao nominated to the Philippine Art Awards, a prestigious art award-giving body based in Metro Manila.
Danny Castillon Doce, a TUP Fine Arts graduate and formerly stationed as full-time visual artist for 31 years in Taytay, Rizal, is one of the regional winners nominated for said award. He is now based in Surallah and currently the President of the South Cotanato Visual Arts Association
Five visual artists each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila were declared regional winners, Doce said. Each received P40,000 cash incentive plus trophy, he added
Of the total 20 winners nationwide, 5 will be chosen for the Phillippine Art Awards that will be awarded a month from now, he further added.
Doce is a prolific artist and have joined art exhibits in San Francisco, USA way back in 2018 and 2022. He also won cash prize plus trophy during the Kulay sa Tubig Water Color Art Competition in Metro Manila under the auspices of Gallery Genesis.
He is a member of the Art Association of the Philippines, Philippine Guild of Water Colorists and International Water Color Society.
