The province of South Cotabato is set to allocate at least Php 2 million as financial aid to areas hardest hit by the series of earthquakes that jolted Mindanao.
In an emergency meeting conducted earlier today by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council chaired by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., a council resolution was approved for the allocation of funds for the said purpose.
The nearby town of Tulunan in North Cotabato which was devastated by the quake will be the subject for the financial aid as its residents needed tents as makeshift shelters after they refused to return to their homes due to fear.
The province is also set to deliver parabolic tents to be used as temporary classrooms for school children.
Tamayo said, when there are still funds available, the province is also willing to help other areas who are in need.
“We should help our neighbors. In these trying times, all we have to do is lend a helping hand to them.” Tamayo said,
Tamayo said these are the initial request from their Local Chief Executive, and if they need more, the province is still willing to augment.
Earlier today, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the PDRRMO has sent at least three Search and Rescue Teams to earthquake-stricken areas in North Cotabato.
