DAVAO CITY – Taking advantage of the early lead on the first three days of the Palaro with 18-G, 28-S, and 15-B medals, the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Delegation is not only focused on attaining awards on regular sports but on minor awards as well.
SOX warriors dominated the medal tally on the first day of palaro with the stunning performances of its arnisadores and a record-breaking feat in athletics.
DepEd 12 Regional Director Allan Farnazo said, he was amazed by the performances of the athletes and never expected a grand haul this early.
“We celebrate on our winnings but we should also contain our excitement,” Farnazo said,
Before the competitions come to a close on Wednesday, a dramatic win by Scyntyl Rose Brillantes on 8-Ball Billiards added another gold for Region 12.
SRAA has a total of 19 Gold to cap the day, making it on the 4th spot.
As of 9 pm yesterday, leading the medal tally was NCR with 43-G, 34-S,23-B; WRAA, 32-G, 15-S,27-B; STCAA, 31-G, 24-S, 39-B; BRAA, 15-G, 15-S,20-B.
Host Davao Region made its winning debut in Swimming courtesy of the 400m medley relay event in the elementary boys category.
Aside from the regular sports, SRAA made an immense preparation to get other minor awards such as Most Disciplined Delegation, Most Organized Delegation, Best Billeting Center; and Cleanest, Greenest and Eco-Friendliest Delegation.
RD Farnazo established a committee on Discipline, Quarter Master and Clean and Green Brigada headed by Mr. Alex Floro as the Dean of Discipline.
This committee sees to it that proper hygiene, food safety, and sanitation, and preservation of the environment is upheld during the conduct of the palaro.
This is in support of the implementation of the Clean and Green, Healthy, Organized and Eco-Friendly Palarong Pambansa.
A committee on Liturgy and Spiritual Activities with fr. Ricardo Pajarillo Jr. as the Delegation spiritual Adviser and trainer was also established to prepare the athletes spiritually and psychologically.
“There has never been a palaro that our delegation was prepared like this,” Farnazo said.
He added, he is happy seeing the SOX athletes beaming with pride and confidence whether in times victory or defeat.
These committees helped a lot, he said.
