CITY OF KORONADAL — Arts and Culture Stakeholders crafted the initial framework on Policy Declaration on Arts and Craft particularly on the use of the T’nalak cloth of Tbolis and Tabih cloth of Blaans in a recent meeting conducted at EMR Center, this city, spearheaded by the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Development and Promotions Unit.
Some 25 City and Municipal officials, Indigenous People Mandatory Representatives (IPMRs), Tourism Officers. Arts and Culuture Coordinators and National Museum (NM) representative in the province gathered during the whole day session of crafting the policy declaration.
Florenz Tugas, PhD, DLSU Accountancy Professor, facilitated the meeting which was full of discussions from the participants about contentious issues and concerns, opinions, suggestions and different insights on how the policy declaration should be written, while others disagreed at first to write it because they deemed it necessary to consult first their respective tribal council on the matter.
But the session, which centered on Section 16 of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) ended late afternoon with an initial framework about the Policy Declaration on Arts and Crafts of Tbolis and Blaans, with a follow-thru expected on May and October this year.
Arts and Culture Coordinator Anna Liz Cabrido disclosed that after the final draft of the Policy Declaration is finished and approved by the body, they will submit it to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for adoption.
