The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato approved on its regular session a resolution declaring 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Magnayon Gray as an “Adopted Daughter” of South Cotabato.
The resolution provides that since the province is in constant effort in boosting its tourism industry, Miss Gray’s showcase of South Cotabato on its video presentation during the pageant has greatly helped in bringing the province in the international arena.
Part of the video also presented other scenic attractions in the province such as the Lake Sebu, 7-falls including the culture and the arts of province’s indigenous peoples, the Tbolis.
The Tnalak cloth, which is an emblem of the province as the Land of the dreamweavers was also highlighted by Miss Gray as she wore it on her social functions during the duration of the pageant.
Her visit to the province in time for the Tnalak Festival last July made her immerse with the cultural communities which gave her a deeper understanding of the indigenous people, and their culture and traditions.
” BY winning the 2018 Miss Universe title, Mr. Gray had brought not only pride and honor to the country but also significantly contributed to the promotion of the tourism industry of South Cotabato.” the resolution said,
The August Body approved the resolution on unanimous sponsorship.
