At least 72 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the South Cotabato Rehabilitation and Detention Center (SCRDC) continue their college education despite being in jail.
OIC Warden Lory Celeste said one of their programs inside the provincial jail is providing education as a rehabilitation activity.
These PDLs are enrolled at the Green Valley College Foundation taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) under the modular mode of instruction.
“This program is for free,” Celeste said,
Aside from this, 30 others also availed of primary education under the Alternative Learning System (ALS), 20 of which have finished their elementary education, while 10 others graduated in their secondary education.
25 more PDLs were the recipient of a TESDA scholarship program on Electrical Installation and have passed their NC11 assessment.
Lory added that 25 others were the recipient of the free farm tool kits under the organic agriculture farming program.
