South Cotabato’s visitor arrival for the first quarter of 2022 reached 443,601, with Lake Sebu, the eco-cultural and summer tourist destination of the province still topping the statistics registering 213,079 domestic and foreign visitors, consisting of same day visitors or “excursionists”and guest nights, the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit reported..
Lake Sebu’s attractions include their famous dine-in lake cruise, homegrown tilapia dishes, Seven Falls, zipliline dubbed as Southeasy Asia’s tallest and longest, the gigantic Our Lady of Divine Mercy Shrine, Lang Dulay Weaving Center, among others. It also offers trekking, camping and other nature trip activities among enthusiasts, para-gliding experience and immersion in Tboli IP village showcasing their culture, arts and crafts such as tnalak cloth, beadworks and brasscasting.
Placing second in visitor arrival is Tupi with 52,369, followed by Norala – 48,432, Surallah – 48,218, Banga – 34,137, Tboli – 11,393, Tampakan – 3,236, Tantangan – 1,682 and Polomolok – 616.
The City of Koronadal, the province’s lone compoent city and capital as well as regional center of SOCCSKSARGEN Region posted 24,167 visitors for the first quarter.
South Cotabato’s 2022 first quarter visitor arrival made a slight increase of 17,824 which is equivalent to 4.2% compared to the same period in 2021 which registered only 425,777 visitor arrival.
