BM Albios mulls culinary arts contest to promote food tourism

Initiating a culinary arts contest among LGUs in the province could help enhance the culinary talent of South Cotabeton, Board Member Ellen Grace Subere Albios mulls over as a way of promoting food tourism in in the province

BM Albios made the statement as one of the Guest Resource Speakers during the Kapihan sa Kapitolyo media forum hosted recently by the PGO – Information Division. as the province is celebrating the 2021 National Nutrition Month this July with the theme “Malnutrisyon Patuloy Labanan – First 1,000 Days Tutukan”

“South Cotabato is a melting pot of people coming from different areas of the country,” Albios stressed,” that is why we have numerous food delicacies to offer to our visitors.”

She pointed out that South Cotabatenos have a “sense of place,” meaning Ilocanos have their own banner delicacy like the “pinakbet”; Lake Sebu have their “tilapia,” and Ilonggos and other ethnic groups likewise have their own distinct delicacy, respectively.

“This is actually a challenge to us and we left this to our tourism to hurdle the challenge, but sponsoring a province-wide contest is one way of helping promote food tourism in the province,” Albios concluded.
