Cleanest & Greenest Household contest launched

The Provincial Environment Management Office – Forest & Inland Water Management Division (PEMO-FIWMD) recently launched the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household in Lake Sebu as part of their Lake Easement Development and Beautification Program.

Loida Villa, Senior Environment Management Specialist and Program Focal Person met with the evaluators and discussed the criteria, mechanics and guidelines of the contest, schedule of evaluations, including the cash incentives that will be given to the lucky winners.

Aside, from the “cleanest and greenest household” contest, the evaluators will also judge contest winners from previous years under the Best Maintained Areas Category.

The contest criteria are Greening, Gardening and Landscaping – 60% (Best Flower/Ornamental Garden-30% and Best Vegetable Garden – 30%) and Cleanliness and Orderliness – 40%.

Prizes at stake for the Search are as follows: Initial Evaluation – First Prize (P5,000), Second Prize (P3,000), Third Prize (P2,000), Fourth Prize (P1,500), Fifth Prize (P1,00) and Sixth to Tenth Prize (P500 each); Final Evaluation – First Prize (P10,000), Second Prize (P7,000), Third Prize (P5,000), Fourth Prize (P3,000), Fifth Prize (P2,00) and Sixth to Tenth Prize (P1,000 each).

For the Best Maintained Areas, the First Prize winner will receive P8,000, Second Prize P5,000, Third Prize P4,000, Fourth Prize P3,000, Fifth Prize P2,000 and P1,000 each for the Sixth to Eight Place winners.

The schedule of the initial and final evaluations will be on September 27 -29 and October 25 – 27, respectively.

Contest evaluators are Roy Ungkal of Lake Sebu Tourism Office, Edna Balabad of DENR-PASU-AVPL, Julius Mella of ACTM Promotions Unit and Fruto Sumagaysay Jr. of PIO.
