Cleanest & Greenest Household Final Evaluation slated Oct 26 in Lake Sebu

Ten (10) households are vying for the top spot in the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household and another five (5) for Best Maintained Areas contest in the final evaluation slated on October 26 to 27 in Lake Sebu, an annual contest conducted by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) as part of their Lake Easement Development and Beautification Program.

The 10 finalists were qualified out of the 14 contestants in the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household, while the 5 finalists in the Best Maintained Areas contest likewise made it out of the 9 contestants in the initial evaluation conducted by the team of evaluators last September 26 – 27.

Finalists in the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household were Luisa Makilan, Jocelyn Klatong, Imelda Fungan, Ferdinand Tapel, Rosalyn Ampit, Mary Ralla, Helen Muyco, Rene Sta. Rita, Mary Fernandez and Ma. Fe Marcelo.

Likewise for Best Maintained Areas, the finalists were Reynaldo Tigas, Renji Centina, Minda Bernal, Rolly Rubillo and Edna Lagrimas.

The evaluators will judge the finalists based on the following criteria: Greening, Gardening and Landscaping – 60% (Best Flower/Ornamental Garden-30% and Best Vegetable Garden – 30%) and Cleanliness and Orderliness – 40%.

Prizes at stake for the Search are as follows: Initial Evaluation – First Prize (P5,000), Second Prize (P3,000), Third Prize (P2,000), Fourth Prize (P1,500), Fifth Prize (P1,00) and Sixth to Tenth Prize (P500 each); Final Evaluation – First Prize (P10,000), Second Prize (P7,000), Third Prize (P5,000), Fourth Prize (P3,000), Fifth Prize (P2,00) and Sixth to Tenth Prize (P1,000 each).

For Best Maintained Areas, the First Prize winner will receive P8,000, Second Prize P5,000, Third Prize P4,000, Fourth Prize P3,000, Fifth Prize P2,000 and P1,000 each for the Sixth to Eight Place winners.

Cash incentives of winners in the initial evaluation will be receive on November 6 while winners in the final evaluation including those in the Best Maintained Areas will be on November 22, which is the scheduled Environment Summit cum Ecology Day of PEMO.

Contest evaluators are Jerson Ungkal of Lake Sebu Tourism Office, Edna Balabad of DENR-PASU-AVPL, Julius Mella of ACTM Promotions Unit and Fruto Sumagaysay Jr. of PIO.
