Cotabato Arts Festival ends with a big bang

With this year’s theme “Sining ng Pag-asa”, the National Arts Month (NAM) celebration  in the province dubbed South Cotabato Arts Festival ended with a big bang with the participation of the Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Theater Arts disciplines under the supervision of the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit.

During Culmination Day on February 28, ACTM led by Senior Tourism Operations Officer Argie Ryan Asaria (ACTM Chief) and Culture and Arts Coordinator Tourism Officer II Indira Cagaanan with DOT 12 OIC-Regional Director Armin Hautea acknowledged all its partners during the month-long celebration particulatly the different disciplines through the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation.

Likewise, a Certificate of Appreciation was given to retired Provincial Information Officer Romeo Roullo from Banga, South Cotabato for his lifetime passion in writing Hiligaynon essays and novels

               Visual Arts together with fashion arts, started the NAM celebrationon on February 5 with a 3-man show of local artists showing their paintings (Ink and Pen) and Terra Cotta Sculpture while a  fashion exhibit dubbed ”Bugal Lokal – Ikalawang Yugt… NSif Ebolusyon” curated by renowned fashion designer Jared Servano featured the evolution of the   NSif embroidery creations 0f Blaan [1]artisans from Landan (Polomolok) and Assumption )(City of Koronadal).from the traditional to modern.

The Music Sector likewise conducted a Webinar Series on February 11, 18 and 25  on “Traditional Music in the Digital World” with Marvin Blu Cotpuz as Resource Speaker, A Day of Music of Saro Banares with Carlo Ebeo as Resource Speaker and Song-writing Competition among participating high school students under the Special Program in the Arts (SPA)  province-wide. The top 3 winners performed during the culmination program held at KCC Mall of Marbel Events Center, City of Koronadal on February 28.

               The Theater Arts Group spearheaded by the Apat sa Taglamig (AST) Theater Production meanwhile conducted a workshop on  Playwriting, Acting, Directingand Stage Management led by AST stalwarts Jim Raborar, Annaliz Cabrido and AST President CPA Florenz Tugas. A 20-minute full segment and 5-minute fragment segment theater show culminated the workhop on February 19.

The Dance Sector led Ground Zero Dance Group which celebrating their 17thh Foundation Anniversary sponsore a hip-hop dance contest dubbed Digmaan 4,0 Mindanao-wide Hip-hop Dance Competition  participated by 15 dance groups coming from South Cotabato, General Santos City, Davao City, Lebak, Kalamansig and Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat, and Cotabato City. The top 5 winners were awarded cash incentives, plaques a
