Due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (CoViD-29) pandemic, the Department of Health (DOH) through Advisory #13 has suspended until further notice the nationwide Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio (SPKP) slated from March 23 until April 5 this year.
DOH 12 Regional Director Aristides Concepcion Tan disclosed that the order was made “to ensure the safety and minimize the exposure of the children and health workers due to the CoViD-19 crises our country is facing.”
But the advisory meanwhile stated that routine immunization shall continue at the Health Implementing Units to prevent further outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.
Standad infection precautionary measures during the provision of immunization, according to the advisory, shall be implemented including social distancing among clients and co-workers within the facility, proper hand-washing and self-protection at all times
RD Tan likewise added that all delivered SPKP logistics must be secured and kept for the next scheduled campaign and cold chain management of all vaccines must be maintained and monitored regularly.
The said order brought a respite among health workers who are all busy with the CoViD-19 contagion that hit the country today.
