DOST trains MENROs on waste recycling

Koronadal City – Some 36 Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers (MENROs) and staff province-wide together with Sultan Kudarat State University personnel join in the Training Seminar on Waste Recycling using Plastic Densifier conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 12 on July 16 at the PROTECH Center, this city.

Engr. Lorencito Pacatang, Supervising Science Research Specialist of DOST’s Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), conducted a lecture on how the plastic densifier technology work that also included a “techno-clinic.”

DOST-ITDI developed the said technology in which plastics gathered are heated inside the plastic densifier and the molten liquid output is poured into a molder to make flower pots, bricks and other products.

Engr. Mahdali Alonto and Sammy Malawan, DOST 12 ARDs for Administrative Services and Technical Services, respectively, also graced the affair.

Likewise, Chief of Staff Romar Olivares of the Office of the Governor, represented Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes on said activity.

Staff of the Provincial Environment Management Office led by Senior Environment Management Specialist Nencita Acain and Environment Management Specialist Elbe Balucanag facilitated the whole-day seminar.

The Techno-seminar is part of the Regional Industrial Technology and Trade Expo of the 15th T’nalak Festival / 48th Foundation Anniversary of the province of South Cotabato.

Earlier, DOST also sponsored a Techno Seminar on Mushroom Spawn Production and Livelihood Training on Food Products.
