To avoid household transmission of Covid-19, Dr. Rogelio Aturdido announced the launching of vaccination of ages 5-11 years old.
He revealed that at least 1300 children were infected of Covid-19 and at least 800 got the infection from household transmission.
Dr. Aturdido encouraged the public to bring their children to the nearest vaccination sites.
According to Faith Alizaleta, Provincial Immunization Coordinator, said that 5686 children aged five to 11 years old were vaccinated as of February 14, 2022. Tboli recorded the most number of vaccinated children at 1338 followed by the City of Koronadal at 1046.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), although adolescents and children can experience milder symptoms compared to adults, some from this target group are at high risk and already have pre-existing conditions like Diabetes Mellitus, asthma, and heart and pulmonary diseases.
Health experts said that acquiring Covid 19 has no age bracket.
