DSWD, OPAPP pours P8M sustainable livelihood assistance to 29 organizations in South Cotabato

Koronadal City—Twenty nine organization-representatives from South Cotabato received a total of P8M-worth of sustainable livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office as part of the Office of the Presidential Adviser support to National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) program.

Sonia Bautista, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, said DSWD carried out the turn-over ceremony at the South Cotabato Provincial Capitol Covered Court recently.

“Some of the recipients are second-time beneficiaries of the program and this livelihood grant give them the chance to expand their present enterprise,” she said.

Each organization with 10 members received P300, 000 as start-up capital.

“The program choose South Cotabato as the program beneficiaries because of its active performance to end local communist armed conflict,” Bautista said.

The program identified three beneficiaries in Polomolok, Norala, Tupi, Tampakan and the City of Koronadal. Meanwhile, DSWD granted assistance to four organizations in Banga and five in Tboli and Lake Sebu. On the other hand, two organizations in Suralah are also recipients of the program.

During the hand-over ceremony, Bautista reminded the beneficiaries that the assistance provided them the opportunities to become productive citizens of society.

“Make the best out of this to prove that you are making difference because of this opportunity,” Bautista added.
