Environment Summit, Ecology Day all set and ready

The South Cotabato Environment Summit cum Ecology Day is all set and ready on November 22 with the final preparations of the activity fully discussed during the Core Group meeting conducted on November 8 spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO).

Provincial Environment Management Officer Siegfred Flaviano and PEMO –Environment Management Division chief Elbe balucanag, convenor and co-convenor, respectively, discussed with the core group the different activities set for the whole day activity.

The final program for the summit particularly the topics and discussants for the morning session are as follows: Climate Change Adaptation – DENR-EMB 12; “Decreasing Plastic Waste through Plastic Bottle Classroom (Mt. Matutum Bio-Diversity Corridor YES-O Alliance) — Palkan National High School; Batang Bantoxics – T’boli National High School; Fiber Tray Project and Bio-Gas Renewable Energy – Bio-Tech Farms, Inc.

After the symposium, a short open forum will ensue and after which, the Green-Silient Schools will be launch by RD Foundation.

The afternoon session meanwhile is dedicated to the awarding of the winners of the Search for Cleanest and Greenest Household in Lake Sebu, Search for Model Schools in Solid Waste Management and Recy-Composition Original Jingle Singing Contest for high school students.

Partners of PEMO in their different environmental programs will be recognized also during the program with the awarding of plaques of recognition.

Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes, 2nd District Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez, BM Hilario de Pedro VI (SP Committee Chair on Environment) and DepEd representatives are also invited to give their respective message.

November is annually celebrated as Environmental Awareness Month, Clean Air Month and Climate Change Consciousness Week.
