Koronadal City—There is a decreasing number of fireworks-related injuries in four towns of South Cotabato in the last four years, according to a Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit report released recently.
PESU observed large disparity of cases in the towns of Lake Sebu, Polomolok, Suralah and the City of Koronadal since 2015.
Polomolok recorded 18 firecracker-related injuries in 2015, the highest among the towns that year but, the data showed zero in the last 2018 holiday revelry.
“This simply showed that both the local officials and the community are committed to bringing down the firework-related injuries,” Provincial Health Officer Rogelio Aturdido said.
Along with Polomolok, the town of Suralah and the City of Koronadal were one of the top three areas with high cases of firecracker-related cases in 2015 but have also won the campaign to lower the cases in the last four years, according to PESU.
In the case of Tboli, on the other hand, the town reported zero firecracker-related injuries based on Kontra-Paputok Injury Surveillance 2018, an abrupt decline of cases from nine in 2017, PESU observed.
