Koronadal City— As a commitment to give free education, Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. announced that he allocated additional funds for college students who wanted to earn a college degree after UNIFAST discontinued funding the program this year. Through the Kabugwason Paglaum SAcholarship Program, students could avail of the program even without taking the exam and maintaining grades.
“Wala sang may mag-untat nga estudyante. Nagapangita kita sang pamaagi,” the governor said during his regular meet-up with the local media.
Meanwhile, DSWD Regional Director Loreto Cabaya, Jr. said the educational assistance program is still pending because “they are crafting new guidelines that will work better for the grantees.”
“The secretary is working on using a cash-for-work scheme for the recipients,” Cabaya stressed.
Previously, DSWD was marred with complaints because of unclear policies.
The AICS Educational Assistance aids students in need with their education expenses. Students must be classified as “in crisis,” which includes breadwinner of the family, working students, and children of the solo parent.
