GOV. TAMAYO MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS HIGHLIGHT IN HIS 100 DAYS REPORT
KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- South Cotabato Provincial Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. delivers his first 100 days accomplishment report during the Provincial Liga Day at South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center, earlier today.
Among the highlights of his speech were the province’s accomplishments last July 1 to this date. One of which is the free hospitalization in all Government hospitals in the province, that includes use of laboratory equipments, surgery operations, and other available medical apparatus.
He also highlighted the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approval of the budget for the procurement of dialysis equipment. He assured the public of its operations before the year ends.
The governor allocated P14M for free education program specifically for the elementary and high school students and the additional P30Million for the contribution of Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) to ensure that there will be no payment coming from the parents.
Tamayo, in his speech, said he asked for a meeting with school heads this month to evaluate the number of college students who have availed the CHED scholarship programs like “unifast” and “tulong dunong.” To guarantee that all students could finish a college degree, the Province will shoulder non-CHED scholars especially the 80 percent of the students of the schools who will the meeting.
“At yan matitiyak natin, na ang mga first year students ay walang rason na hindi makapag-aral dahil ililibre na sila simula ngayong taon. By next year, first year and second year, by 2021 first year, second year, and third year, and hopefully by 2022 from first year to fourth year maililibre na nga natin dito sa probinsiya ng South Cotabato.” Tamayo said.
It was also highlight the formulation together with the legislative body, the Executive and Legislative Agenda (ELA) which will be the basis and direction in the next 3 years.
Meanwhile, in 2018, of 122 infrastructure projects only five have no negative slippage, meaning only five projects finished on time, and 117 are delayed, Tamayo said.
The governor said only 30% of the projects are already completed and more than 60% are still on-going when he assumed his office last July. To fast track the completion of projects, he issued an executive order to block contractors who have negative slippage to join the bidding.
During his 100 days, Tamayo initiated to resolve the conflict between the rebels and lawless elements in Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu. He vowed to put an end on the conflict at Baragay Landan, Polomolok.
On the other hand, in agriculture, Tamayo said that with the help of the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, they approved the budget to purchase wet palay at 19/kilo to augment the National Food Authority (NFA) buying capacity as a strategy to intervene on the pressing issue of low buying price in the market.
The governor is also looking into additional investment opportunities for South Cotabato in preparation for the cityhood of the Municipality of Polomolok, which will deter the economic activities of the province.
In terms of energy consumption, Gov. Tamayo talked to major energy producer SOCOTECO to establish a Public and Private Partnership so that the province will have its own energy generation such as the solar power to help consumers pay a less P1 per KWH of electric consumption.
Aside from these, few of the major breakthrough during his 100 days is the establishment of the South Cotabato Balay Silangan Reformatory Center and the conduct of the 1st Community Outreach program at Municipality of Tupi.
“With the help of the community and political leaders, we will make sure that South Cotabato will truly stand-out.” Tamayo added.
