Koronadal City—Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. received a group of Japanese people in his office and talked about Nanofiltration technology.
The Japanese team presented the technology with the ability to remove organics and salinity (hardness) from water in one simple step, removing bacterial cells in water. It could filter 50 to 80 percent of pesticides in the wastewater, making the latter cleaner before it reaches the soil and contaminate the groundwater.
“Let us present this to the Provincial Environment Management Office and discuss this further with them,” he told the team.
On the other hand, he is interested in presenting the technology to the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines (ULAP), of which he is the president.
The Japanese team added that the technology “has the potential to enhance and increase the quality of the soil.”
