Governor Fuentes to receive SGLG award Nov 28

Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes will personally lead the awarding ceremony for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) which will be held on November 28 at the historic Manila Hotel, City of Manila.

The announcement was made during the weekly regular convocation program last Monday, November 13, which coincided with the launching ceremony of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control week celebration.

Governor Fuentes personally thanked the provincial government family, particularly the provincial department heads and Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and the private sector and NGO partners for their support which made the province once again a recipient of the prestigious award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to an LGU which exemplifies good governance.

Based on SGLG 2017 “4+1” assessment areas set by DILG, an LGU should passed all the core areas and 1 essential area to qualify for the award. The core areas are Good Financial Housekeeping, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Peace and Order while the Essential Areas are Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Tourism, Culture and The Arts and Environmental Management.

South Cotabato, together with North Cotabato, were the only 2 provinces given the SGLG award under the province category in SOCCSKSARGEN region. Under the municipal category, Tupi and Surallah, 2 municipalities in South Cotabato, were likewise recipients of said award.

Fuentes likewise announced that provincial government employees may receive a bonus next year as an SGLG awardee.
