The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) has approved South Cotabato’s 2014-2019 Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) during the panel presentation made by the province last January 28.
No less than Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes presented the province’s Disaster Risk Reduction–Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) Enhanced PDPFP to HLURB’s Board of Commissioners.
She was accompanied by Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) Coordinator Abner Navarro, Planning Officer IV Jennifer Bretana and Board Members Samuel Ladot and Ellen Grace Subere – Albios.
HLURB recognized the province as the first to submit their 6-year land use plan and likewise the first to be approved by their office in Mindanao.
The DRR-CCA Enhanced PDPFP has two major parts; the Physical Framework Plan and the Sectoral Development Plan. Its revised outline featured 6 chapters that include Introduction, The Vision-Mission, the Planning Environment, Land Use and Physical Framework, Development Issues, Goals, Objectives and Targets, and Strategies, Programs, Projects and Activities.
It was presented by the PPDO in the early of part of 2014 during a forum to provincial department heads and other key officials, MPDOs, NGAs, GOCCs, partner NGOs and other stakeholders.
During the said meeting, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) 12 recognized South Cotabato as the first province in the country to formulate its PDPFP.
The DRR-CCA Enhanced PDPFP was the product of different meetings and consultations with various government agencies which improved and harmonized the data presented, particularly those under PDC’s Sectoral Development Plan.
The Provincial Development Council (PDC), the province’s highest planning and policy-making body, has unanimously approved the PDPFP during their Yearend Meeting on December 2014.
It was later adopted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and likewise approved by the Regional Land Use Committee.
