Hydroponics sees to control the effect of mass fish kill

KORONADAL, SOUTH COTABATO- The Provincial Environment and Management Office conducted a research on the possible reason of “kamahong” or fish kill in the Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

Las month, there were portions of the lake’s waters in barangays Poblacion, Bacdulong, and Takunel are affected.

According to PEMO chief Seigfred Flaviano, hydroponics is considered to be the natural remediation of the lake that will help increase the dissolved oxygen.

PEMO chief flaviano said.

Flaviano assures the fish cages owner that this hydroponics will help lessen or control the increase dissolved oxygen and to avoid the massive effect of fish kill.

He added that this is an agricultural practice wherein it doesn’t require soil to grow and it is suitable to plant in the surface of water.
