IPHO – CoViD-19 pandemic not a “death sentence”

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) headed by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr. assured the general public that the Corona Virus Disease (CoViD) – 19 pandemic is not a “death sentence.”

Speaking before the local media during the recent Kapihan sa Kapitolyo media forum, Dr. Aturdido disclosed that based from the latest data, 71% are recovering from the pandemic.

“We must not be afraid (referring to the CoViD-19 pandemic), but we should protect ourselves from it,” Aturdido stressed.

As of September 29, Aturdido revealed that South Cotabato has a total of 434 cases of which 173 are active cases with 249 recoveries. It registered 9 deaths coming from the City of Koronadal (3), Polomolok (4) and Tupi (2).

Aturdido added that of the total active cases, 33 are tested positive but are asymptomatic, coming from Locally Stranded Individuals who went home to the province from Metro Manila; 124 mild cases were likewise registered while 24 are severe cases, of which 16 are now being treated at the SOCCSKSARGEN General Hospital in Surallah, the designated CoViD-19 hospital of the province.

The WHO reported that the pandemic has already killed more than 1 million  people world-wide as of September 28.
