Joint LTO-SCAGB anti-smoke belching campaign nets 18 violators

CITY OF KORONADAL — Eighteen (18) vehicles were apprehended during the one-day Roadside Vehicle Smoke Emission Testing jointly initiated by the Land Transportation Office – South Cotabato Airshed Governing Board (LTO-SCAGB) conducted at Carpenter Hill, this city, recently.

Sixty-three (63) vehicles were subjected to smoke emission testing, of which 53 are diesel while 10 are gasoline. The 18 vehicles who failed the emission test are all diesel-fueled vehicles.

A day earlier, LTO-SCAGB conducted a Deputation of Enforcers Seminar at Villa Princessita, also this city, led by LTO 12 staff Benjamin Estomata and Julhani Abdula.

It was attended by SCAGB Technical Working Group members composed of City and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officers of the 10 towns and lone city of the province.

SCAGB plans to conduct regular anti-smoke belching campaign with focus on LGU-owned vehicles, Garage Public Transport as well as its roadside “on-the-spot” campaign.

It will also join the annual Tree-Growing Festival of Koronadal City LGU which is regularly held every June 29 in celebration of the World Environment Month, with the tree-planting activity to be conducted at the CIOFF Park, Regional Center, Carpenter Hill.
