LGUs with firm stand on COVID 19 vaccination on children post high vaccination rate

Koronadal City—Four local government units in South Cotabato supported the Department of Education vaccination drive on COVID 19. These LGUs released an executive order mandating public and private schools to accept vaccinated learners only.

Dr. Kashmyra Buenaflor, Medical Officer III, said these LGUs strictly required that vaccinated children can participate in the face-to-face class.

“It prompts the parents to submit their children for vaccination,” Buenaflor said.

These LGUs are Tupi, Tantangan, Polomolok and Suralah, the medical officer from DepEd of South Cotabato Division confirmed.

The DepEd order states that the face-to-face classes is in agreement and in coordination with the mayors in the city or municipality where the school participating in face-to-face classes is located.

“I believed its is important to continue educating the parents on the benefits of vaccination as well as the frequency of presenting  the side effects because will bring them on board in this program,” Buenaflor explained.

She said the division of South Cotabato never stops advocating the importance of vaccination to teaching and non-teaching personnel up to the learners.

Buenaflor pushed that the vaccines are effective. She said the evidence is the changes on alert levels in the country. Vaccination should come along with practicing minimum health protocol, she further said.

“We should read more and understand more the COVID 19 vaccination. If you have any concerns, doubts or fear ask some knowledgeable. Hindi yung abi ko, hambal nya, basi,” Dr. Buenaflor added.
