Koronadal City – Some 22 local artisans particularly from the municipality of T’boli underwent a 3-day Second Level Training-Workshop on Jewelry-Making at the PROTECH Center, this city, during the 2015 South Cotabato Regional Industrial Technology and Trade Expo spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The participants were taught about Gemstone Processing by Engr. Edilbert de la Pena and Electroplating by Engr. Wilfredo Lim, all from the DOST Central Office.
After the lecture series, the participants immersed through the conduct of a “hands-on” training to experience “first-hand” on how to process gem stones and electro-plate gold jewelry with the supervision of the Resource Speakers.
During the third and last day of training, the participants went back to T’boli to gather gem stones to be use as material in their gemstone processing.
PEMO also disclosed that they plan to conduct a Third Level Training on Jewelry-Making, which is still in partnership with DOST, to further enhance their craftsmanship.
During the T’nalak Festival last year, the local artisans also participated in the First Level Training on Jewelry-Making sponsored by Tribal Mining Corporation or TMC based in T’boli.
