Nat’l Arts Month ends with a big bang

CITY OF KORONADAL — South Cotabato’s National Arts Month (NAM) celebration ended with a resounding success with the giving of Tubas Taliambong Awards and  performance of  3 art disciplines (Music, Dance and Theater Arts) under the South Cotabato Culture & Arts Council (SCCAC ) during the closing program last February 28 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium & Cultural Center, this city.

The Samahan ng mga Musikero ng South Cotabato led by Carlos Bingil performed a repertoire of songs popularized  by the famous fol rock band Asin , Special Program for the Aers (SPA) students performed a folk dance number while the Apat sa Taglamig Theater Play Production wowed the audience with their short stage play entitled Bulan.

Highlight of the NAM closing program was the rendition of the 20-member South Cotabato Rondalla under the baton of conductor Charles Dumdum with vocalist Aliyah Lamzon that both made them champions during the Musihan Festival held at Tagum City, Davao del Norte last February 17,

Earlier, South Cotabato visual artists exhibited their wotrks of art inside the venue. The Visual Arts Sector celebarated NAM through a series of workshops and contest at Surallah town Mallengke.

Three (3) individuals and four (4) groups in South Cotabato were recognized for their contribution in the field of culture and the arts through the Tubas Taliambong awards. They received a Plaque and P5,000 cash incentive each..

The culmination program was graced by Vice-Governor Arthur Pungoy Jr., National Commission for Culture & The Arts (NCCA) Commissioner Reden Ulo of Lake Sebu, DILG OIC-Provincial Director Al-Hayd Suwaib and DOT 12 OIC- Regional Director Engr. Armin Hautea.
