Two (2) towns in South Cotabato underwent Cultural asset Mapping Training conducted by the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Uniit for the second semester of the year, Cultural Mapping Focal Person Anna Liz Cabrido disclose
The town of Norala was trained earlier by ACTM while fifteen (15) barangays of the municipality of Tupi recently underwent 2-day training at Tanokz Chicken Haus,first also located in said municipality
Barangays that trained on Day 1 consisted of Bulolmala, Bunao, Cebuano, Kalkam, Linan, Lunen, Poblacion and Tubeng, while Day 2 is composed of Barangays Acmonan, Crossing Rubber, Kablon, Miasong, Palian, Polonoling and Simbo.
Tupi IPMR Rogelio Laco who is the Guest Speaker expressed his support to the training and disclosed that their town has already approved their Local Cultural Development Plan (LCDP) through the passage of an ordinance early this year.
After the presentation of the rationale by ACTM Culture and Arts Coordinator Tourism Operations Officer II Indira Cagaanan, the participants composed of barangay officials were oriented about the meaning of cultural asset and cultural mapping, cultural icons that has importance and relevance in their respectivrangay and how to conduct fieldwork/ nterview in the commun
The cultural mapping team per barangay is composed of a writer/mapper and enumerator whose collective role is to indetify the cultural icons, conduct interview on concerned personalities and write a background why the identified asset is a cultural icon.
After conducting thorough identification, mapping and interview, the barangay will submit their findings to ACTM, which will then conduct documentation and subsequently validate their cultural asset mapping before printing their CAM Book.
