Outreach Program showcases IP dances, chanting

CITY OF KORONADAL — The Dayaw Cultural Outreach Program, fotmally opened today (November 7) during  the regular Monday Convocation program of the Provincial Government at the Covered Court Area here.in celebration of IP Month.

Four (4) Indigenous Peoples (IPs) tribes in Mindanao participated led by Maranao dancers of Lanao, Tausug of Sulu, Yakan of Basilan and Subanun of Zamboanga Peninsula cultural performers.

The 4 groups showed the audience their respective dance depicting their culture. The Yakan tribe meanwhile performed 2 chanting sessions before showcasing their cultural dance.

Dayaw should have been celebrated here last October which is IP Month celebration, but due to  bad weather conditions, the activity was postponed to November.

After the formal Opening Program and  Forum tonight at the Paraiso Verde Resort, this city, the group will conduct their outreach program at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College and Green Valley College Foundation Inc. here and in the Municipality in Lake Sebu.

Present during the Dayaw Opening Program at the Capitol were NCCA Southern Cultural Comunities and Traditional Arts  Commissioner Abubakar Datumanong, NCIP Ethnographic Commissioner Bae Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las. Cultural workers Michael Angelo Yambok and Arthur Gulili of South Cotabato.
